FULL TIME DIRECTOR POSITION

Director Job Description

In a community of 3200 people, the Waterloo Grant Township Public Library (WGTPL) serves all ages through a myriad of materials and activities, being the social hub of Waterloo.  The WGTPL is a member of the Evergreen Indiana Consortium.  A new addition and a renovation to the older building were completed in 2015, which allows for an increase in service to the community.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
        The Director must be a Class LC4, which is a Bachelor’s Degree plus 15 hours of Library Science Credits.
 
DIRECTORS DUTIES:
  1. Represents the library and speaks before community, civic and other groups regarding the objectives and activities of the library.
  2. Recommends and administers public relations programs.
 
DUTIES TO THE COMMUNITY:
  1. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other governmental agencies, civic and community groups and the general public.
  2. Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs a balanced program of library science to serve all people in the community.
  3. Evaluates the effectiveness of library services in relation to changing needs of the community.
 
DUTIES TO THE STAFF:
  1. Attends professional and other meetings, including staff when appropriate.
  2. Provides in-service training programs for employee training and development.
  3. Supervises all library staff and communicates improvements and accomplishments
  4. Recommends and administers policies on the procurement and processing of library materials to develop a well-rounded collection.
 
FINANCIAL DUTIES:
  1. Procures funding through grants from the State and Independent Institutions.
  2. Directs the maintenance of library buildings and grounds.
  3. Submits an annual budget to the Board.
  4. Directs and supervises the expenditures of library funds.
 
DUTIES TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
  1. Recommends and administers personnel policies for Board approval.
  2. Formulates and recommends policies to the Board.
  3. Implements library policies and procedures.
  4. Provides communication and discussion with Board Members about important date-sensitive materials and/or information.
  • Salaried at $40,000
  • Paid time off including vacation, personal, sick and bereavement time.
  • Retirement savings through INPRS - contributions paid by employer equaling 14.2% (3% Employee & 11.2% Employer-both paid by employer)
Library employee checks are dispersed after the monthly board meeting which is held the first Monday of the month.
