Children's Department

We are thrilled to partner with the Butler Public Library,
​Garrett Public Library, Eckhart Public Library, and Fort Wayne Children's Choir to to bring the First Steps in Music program to all four libraries in DeKalb County.

Library Cards

Children who are five years of age and living in Waterloo or Grant Township are eligible for their own library cards.

Children who live outside of the town of Waterloo or Grant Township but attend DeKalb Central Schools are also eligible for a library card. 

Book Collection

The Children's Department contains picture books, fiction, nonfiction, reference books and magazines for children from birth through the upper elementary grades.

Garrett-Keyser-Butler Community Head Start Program and Early Head Start Program
Children from families whose annual income falls at or below the Federal Poverty level are considered income-eligible for Head Start. A limited number of slots are available for families whose annual income falls between 100 - 130% of poverty. Children who are 3 or 4 by the state school eligibility date are considered age-eligible for Head Start.
